for those who want to learn the essentials
These days, most of the art colleges mainly focus on making money by issuing certificates and degrees, but, do not teach you the art essentials. Even when someone finished with a degree, apart from some understanding of art theories and art histories, can hardly draw and paint anything decent, simply because they were never trained with the art essentials.
John Chen, who had about ten years experience of teaching at the university level with very strict essential training, and then had his own practice and gallery for last 22 years, will teach you the basics which are NOT very well taught in the colleges in Australia, as well as the essential surviving skill as an artist to enable you to make some extra money.
If you are interested, please prepare some of your own art woks to let us have an idea of what level you are on.
We mainly teach foundation drawings and paintings which including still-life, flowers, landscapes and portraits with any media you prefer. You may even have a chance to paint or draw together with the professionals, once you have the basics.
Fees: The assessment is free of charge. $50 per session/ first person, which including 30 minutes of analysis and hands-on teaching, Second person $ 25 and so on.
If you are serious about learning something practical, then we would suggest a half day, 4 hour session, with analysis, hands on practice, for $300.
Teachers including John Chen and his associates, all very experienced professional local artists. One of the artist who is famous for his portrait in Australia, Master Jia Wei Shen, visit this store from time to time. by being a student here, you even have a chance of meeing him personally. Master Jia wei Shen was one of the top class artist in China and is still consider to be one of the most recoganized artist both in Australia and China. He was commissioned by Princess Mary and Former Prime Minister John Howard, and many other ones of rich and famous.

The following four pieces of nude study were by professor Hua Yi Shen, the president of Fine Art College of Shanghai Normal University. He was one of the classmates of John Chen, about 30 years ago.
